Oh, man, it is HOT out there. This is the time of year when the tropics are boiling and Florida is no exception. Have you ever considered getting your windows tinted? There are a few reasons why this is a great idea: Window tinting helps to reduce the overall interior temperature in your vehicle, meaning that your air conditioner doesn’t have to work quite as hard to cool you down. Tinting also protects the interior of your car – as well as its passengers – from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Florida drivers know the curse of the searing-hot seatbelt buckle and the lava steering wheel!
There’s also nothing cooler looking than a 90% tint on a black car, but before you think about making your own private Batmobile with a 90% tinted front windshield, know that Florida law regulates how dark you can tint your windows.
You can’t, for example, tint your windshield with 90% tint except for at the top, above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line.
The front side windows must allow more than 28% of light in (70% tint) and the rear window and the back side windows must allow more than 15% light (80% tint max)
Please refer to Florida Statutes 316.2951-316.2957 for current Florida window tint law enforcement policies, including rules and regulations, as the final authority on Florida window tint law.
